We are excited to announce the return of our annual Sparks of Change campaign and celebration, an inspiring initiative that will bring the community together to ignite generosity, empower youth, and create lasting impact across the Greater Itasca Area.
The Sparks of Change Annual Celebration will take place on September 24, 2026, at CoHaus in Grand Rapids, offering an engaging evening that highlights the power of philanthropy and community connection. Early bird tickets are now available for $75—reserve your spot and join this memorable evening.
Now in its third year, the Sparks of Change campaign continues to grow as a cornerstone effort of GRACF, encouraging individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together in support of shared goals. The campaign underscores a simple but powerful idea: philanthropy is for everyone, and even small acts of generosity can spark meaningful and lasting change.
In 2026, 50% of funds raised will support our new Youth in Philanthropy Program, empowering local high school students to develop leadership skills and make real grantmaking decisions that benefit youth across the Greater Itasca Area. The remaining funds sustain the Community Foundation’s work, ensuring continued support for local organizations. By giving, you help cultivate the next generation of community leaders while strengthening the foundation that supports our region—now and into the future.
There are multiple ways for community members to get involved in Sparks of Change. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate as sponsors, helping expand the campaign’s reach while demonstrating their commitment to strengthening the Greater Itasca community. Supporters can make a gift to the campaign, attend the annual celebration to connect with others and celebrate community impact, or do both. Local students can also play a direct role by applying to join the Youth in Philanthropy Advisory Board, where they help guide funding decisions while gaining valuable leadership experience. Board applications are available at GRACF’s office or online HERE and are open until July 31st, 2026.
In previous years, the annual campaign has supported various nonprofit organizations and several field-of-interest funds that reflect community priorities, giving over $60,000 over the first two of the campaign. These investments demonstrate the collective impact that can be achieved when residents come together around a shared vision for the future.
Community members are encouraged to get involved in the way that best fits them—whether by donating, attending, sponsoring, or applying to be part of the Youth in Philanthropy Advisory Board. Each contribution helps turn moments of generosity into sustained progress and drives positive outcomes for years to come.
