Community members are invited to lace up their running shoes and make a difference at the Foster Hope 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, September 19 at the Itasca County Family YMCA. Registration and check-in begins at 8:45 with races beginning at 10am.
The family-friendly event will feature both a 5K race and a Fun Run, making it accessible for participants of all ages and abilities to walk, run, and roll. Race registration is $30, and children aged 12 and under can participate for free.
Proceeds from the event support the Foster Hope Fund, held at the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation. The fund provides resources and support for foster children, young adults, and the families who care for them throughout the Greater Itasca Area.
In addition, the Foster Hope Fund awards a $1,000 scholarship to support both traditional and nontraditional students who are currently in foster care, have previously been in foster care, or have been adopted through the foster care system.
“The Foster Hope Fund helps provide opportunities, support, and encouragement to young people and families navigating the foster care system,” said event organizer Kara Williams. “By participating in the Foster Hope 5K & Fun Run, community members can directly impact the lives of local youth and families.”
Participants are encouraged to register, gather friends and family, and join the community for a morning of fitness, fun, and philanthropy. You can register online HERE, or by calling GRACF at 218.999.9100.
Those who are unable to attend but would like to support the mission of the Foster Hope Fund can donate HERE.
