New Beginnings Pregnancy + Family Support was selected as one of three local organizations to receive funding from the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation’s Seeds of Change 2024 annual campaign.

With the $2,000 New Beginnings received, they were able to purchase items for their boutiques. The New Beginnings boutiques in Grand Rapids and Deer River provide diapers, pull-ups, wipes, baby care items, teethers, pacifiers, bottle brushes, bottles, and formula to their clients. They offer household cleaning supplies like disinfectant spray and wipes, dish soap and laundry soap and paper products. They also have hygiene items available for adults such as body wash, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

The New Beginnings Pregnancy + Family Support boutique is essential for their clients. Clients watch parenting lessons through the online education program and earn points which they then use in the boutiques. The goal is to equip their clients with all the necessary tools to help prepare a safe and loving environment. Clients who may be experiencing financial hardship or unexpected expenses appreciate the monetary relief their boutiques can provide. New Beginnings also can have clients in crisis, who need immediate assistance, and the boutique can provide baby supplies, clothing, blankets and more.

We envision a community where all children are cared for from conception, parents have the opportunity to learn how to develop a safe and loving home, and those who have been hurt by prior choices can receive support and healing,” states Melissa Wheelock of New Beginnings. “New Beginnings is celebrating 20 years of compassion, support and hope this year.  We continue to grow, and the needs of our clients continue to grow as well.  Last year we provided 12,966 diapers/pull-ups and supported 302 clients.”
