The Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation is excited to announce the second 100+ Women Who Care Itasca giving circle event, scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2025, at Timberlake Lodge in Grand Rapids. Registration opens at 5:00 p.m., with the program running from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This community-driven initiative unites women who want to make an immediate and meaningful impact. The concept is simple: one hundred or more women each donate $100, pooling resources to raise at least $10,000 in one evening for a local nonprofit.

At the event, attendees may nominate nonprofits they are passionate about, though nominations are optional. Nominators should be prepared to give a short, 2–3 minute overview of the nonprofit’s mission and community impact. Three organizations will be randomly drawn from the nominations, and after hearing presentations, attendees will vote. The nonprofit with the most votes will receive the collective donation raised that night.

The first event, held in May, exceeded all expectations. More than $17,000 was raised, with Advocates for Family Peace receiving the collective donation. The other nominated organizations were the Itasca County Family YMCA and Great Tails Animal Rescue.

“The first event in May was so inspiring,” said Mindy Nuhring, Executive Director of the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation. “We are excited to host this event again this fall to support local nonprofits. This is a simple but powerful way to create real impact in just 60 minutes.”

Women of all ages and backgrounds are invited to attend, whether to nominate a nonprofit or simply to participate in the giving process. In addition to supporting local causes, the event provides a unique opportunity to connect with other women who care about making a difference in the Itasca area.
