Keewatin receives grant from Nashwauk Area Community Fund for log cabin in city park

The historic boy scout log cabin located in Keewatin’s City Park was originally donated in memory of Daniel Kelly Senior.  The log cabin is an icon of the city park but has fallen into disrepair.  A $2500 donation from the Nashwauk Area Community Fund (NACF), along with other donations, will help repair the log cabin so that it can once again be used as a community gathering space.   A handicap ramp is being added and the donation from NACF will be used for other items such as doors, a deck, and other improvements.   The NACF grant will help the log cabin return to community use and preserve a part of history for the City of Keewatin.

The Nashwauk Area Community Fund is a community-based fund providing discretionary grants to projects and initiatives in the Nashwauk area to improve the quality of life for local citizens and provide a way for citizens and businesses to give to their local community.  This fund serves nonprofit organizations in Nashwauk, Keewatin, Nashwauk Township, Buck Lake, Pengilly, Goodland and Swan Lake areas.  For more information about the Nashwauk Area Community Fund, or to donate, you can go to their website at www.nashwaukfund.org.
