The Nashwauk Area Community Fund (NACF) has awarded a $3,000 grant to the City of Keewatin to enhance accessibility at the Keewatin Community Center. The funds will be used to install an electric handicap door opener, ensuring that all residents, including those with mobility challenges, can easily access the building.
The NACF has long been committed to supporting projects that strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for local residents. Serving the cities of Nashwauk, Keewatin, and Pengilly, as well as Goodland, Nashwauk Township, and the surrounding Buck Lake and Swan Lake areas, the NACF provides discretionary grants to fund initiatives that address pressing community needs.
The Keewatin Community Center serves as a vital gathering place, hosting public meetings, educational seminars, and community events. It is also the city’s polling location for elections. Enhancing its accessibility ensures that all residents, regardless of ability, can fully participate in these important activities. Additionally, the center is frequently used by neighboring communities, including Nashwauk and Lone Pine, and hosts various Nashwauk-Keewatin (NK) school programs.
